Can I ask what is wrong with yours? I'd be more than happy to help get it running again, if I can! Do you know which batch (1, 2 or 3) it is from? Mine is from batch 3, which can be identified by the extra strengthening pieces at the top of the cab door openings.
Mine worked perfectly "out of the box". It is true that I did some mods to it before I ran it (boiler water filling system, gas tank warming valve) but these were my choice to do and purely for my convenience. I have not had to make any mechanical alterations to it at all.
Accucraft do not sell locos direct to the public, they only sell through dealers. Accucraft dealers are obliged by law (Sale of Goods Act) to provide a product that is fit for purpose, and if a loco does not work it is not fit for purpose and should have been returned to the dealer who sold it for a refund or repair. This would also apply if it suffered a failure of some kind soon after delivery as a result of poor manufacture and would be covered by the guarantee provided with the loco.
I have to say that I was fully aware of the perceived problems that these locos seem to have suffered, and made it quite clear to the dealer I used that it would be back to them in a flash if there were *any* problems with it. This was accepted (and encouraged!) by them and I was told quite clearly that any tinkering by me could result in invalidating the warranty.
Personally, I was not prepared to spend that amount of cash on something that did not work, and could not be made to work by the dealer.
I am extremely happy with my loco and with the service that I have received both from my dealer and from Accucraft themselves.
