Adding revolving spectacle plates

Hi all, can anybody advise me how to remove the spectacle plates on an Accucraft Caradoc? I want to fit the Swift Sixreen revolving ones, but can't see how to take the old ones off without damage.

Hello John,
I don't know if the spectacles in my on my Carodoc are original or not but they appear to be an interference fit. They might knock out with a bit of brute force or if you are going to change them it might be worth cutting through the rim carefully and removing them that way.

I am in the midst of drawing plans for revolving windows for my Katie. The etched brass ones are one of the least satisfactory parts of the kit.

The spectacle rings on my Mark I Ragleth are just a push fit, as one of them comes out easily when handled.

The spectacle rings on my Caradoc look to be the same design but strangely have been over-painted on the cab interior (presumably at the factory).

Turns out they were soldered on, but brute force did the trick. I would have applied heat if I'd known, but there we are. I'm replacing them with SwiftSixteen ones btw.

Be sure to post a picture when you are done. I fitted these spectacle plates to a RH "Billy" recently and they look great. BUT I had trouble soldering them. The outside ones turned out OK but I ended up gluing the inner ones because the outer ones kept coming off with the heat when I tried to solder the inside ones. No doubt due to my lack of soldering skill. But they look fine.
