A really neat bit of remediation. It's hardly noticeable.

Fitting some fittings
Boiler number on a brass plate
and also stamped on the dry back head
and a crown level plate, just for kicks and giggles.
Trimming fibre washers and also added various copper shim sheets to the store's drawers for making washers.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. Much appreciated
I am pondering my next project after this build and I am thinking I am going to have a go at a 4 1/2" scale Foden steam Lorry before I tackle my magnum opus 5" magnum opus loco build before I die.

Does mean that your 5" loco is not only going to be your magnum opus but is also going to be named Magnum Opus ?Hydrostatic Dazza wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 7:40 pm ...... before I tackle my magnum opus 5" magnum opus loco build before I die.

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
It could be named as you suggest. That would be fun. I like the name Cynthia because it is what a few of us nicknamed the full size #253 that resides in Gympie dismantled and awaiting 2 million god coins to steam again.ge_rik wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 9:32 amDoes mean that your 5" loco is not only going to be your magnum opus but is also going to be named Magnum Opus ?Hydrostatic Dazza wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 7:40 pm ...... before I tackle my magnum opus 5" magnum opus loco build before I die.

I like the idea of the freedom of movement with a steam lorry. A break from railway matters, full size and miniature.

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
Question to the collective wisdom. The time for the test steaming is getting closer. What, where is a good source of a metal fan suitable for the Llewellyn works to build a steam raising fan blower ?

The fan is easy to make - perhaps more readily available than a bought fan.
It is just a hub, soldered to a brass disc, and brass strips soldered onto it radially. No actual "fan" - it just works on centrifugal force expelling the smoke.

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
Connected the blower up, it twitches. I am not confident about the actual valves. I will not be surprised it I have to remake them with an O ring seat design which appears to be better for servo control. I would have done that from the start if I knew what I know now. We will see when I test steam.

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
I’m genuinely excited to see this beauty in steam! If it’s any help I used a tenmille etch to speed up the building of my blower, seems to work quite nicely
