Hi Rik,

that few cm difference in height have a really good effect creating an optical "break" from the mainline to the sidings.

The day I filmed produced a lot of wind noise in the mike (even though it was shrouded in a dead cat (what they call that fluffy sock on a mike, apparently)). I had to edit out, as best I could, the wind noise on some clips. Here's how ......

The trackwork has now had a test run, two full operating sessions and a visit from Zach with his live steamer. So, I think I'm almost ready to start ballasting.

New platform at BM...

Still waiting for the felt adhesive to set. It takes ages. That's why most of the platform is weighted down.

Meanwhile, ballasting has started at the Copper Mine. Just the first layer at present. I'll start tweaking it with other layers once this has fully set.

Indeed, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I've been applying SBR to the first top layer at the Copper Mine. Once that's dry, I'll start with the final layer.

I would think it ought to help, in theory at least, because the volatile components in the bitumen should evaporate faster. Having said that, since the bitumen is sandwiched between the felt layers, the exposure to free air is very limited so in practice it may not make any realistic difference, because the volatiles will have migrate along the thin layer to get to the outside to evaporate. If that makes any sense?
