That would explain it, but still dosn't stop my concern for the condition of my railway by saturday morning!

Don't worry Laalratty. I had an open day for my first line last year. About a dozen people turned up to play trains on my 15 yard long railway! We had great fun, and my mum didn't mind a bit (she actully liked it because everyone was thanking her for making wounderful victoria sponges for them ).

i will have to have one sometime down here... a few passing loops r in there.

I have had open days before admittedly not 12 people, its the "binge drinking, IRA terrorist" that i'm worried about!

She has a welsh name, and this is the first time she'll have run on a rly with a welsh name since I got her!

Incidentally, what is the Welsh to English translation on Afonglas and nant Llywydd Rly? I tried usin the net translators, and my sketchy memory of learning welsh at uni, and came out with something like 'River (Afon) Blue(Glas) One licked Tooth (Nant Llywydd). What does it actually mean?

Afonglas is a play on words for Ravenglass!!!! (Plus the estuary at Ravenglass does look particualy blue in most light, Glas is the word for blue
The Nant Llywyd means grey ravine (I hope, it came from a welsh dictionary) and is a very good description of my heavily sloping, paving slab based garden when the rain water off the street is pouring down the hill
The railway is about as flat as something that is not flat at all Ruling gradient 1 in 60, but I have some 1 in 70 on some sharp curves, the mamod could have a fun time (well you won't be short on excersise as you chase it uphill and downdale!)

my first line, due to some wrong calculations, had a steep gradiant on a curve. Because of which, I only ever ran trains in an anti-clockwise (up the gradient) direction. Surprisingly, the mamods managed to cope ever time.

there may be hope for bungles mamod then!

Yeah, and my mamods don't have any form of control apart from the reverser (I curently don't have the time to take my engines apart to fit them if regulators. Also, my mum would have a fit when all the oil came out onto her carpet!)

Matt, hav a go at making a exhaust regulator. That may give you a lot more control.

What's one of those then?

ah, its something very simple that ristricts the flow of steam leaving the exhaust. I think theres a post about it somewhere on here...
