I believe that 'Ronald' is a standard Mamod boiler?

With superboiler locos, IP Janes came with a little disc thats held on by the water top up and the dome is held on by that. Could supply you one NM, if you have a lathe?

Unfortunately, that would put the dome in the "wrong" place atop the boiler, (I know, I know, it can go virtually where you like - but my personal preference is central. It's an OCD / symetry thing ), but ta anyhow

Well Greg my Carrie has a dome fitted by previous owner. He just shaped a piece of wooden dowel to the curve of the boiler, glued it on with loctite or something & made sure the diameter was correct for the roundhouse dome to slide onto..

Hmmm! Hadn't thought of that one, I was considering the old Roundhouse method of using a boiler band with sprung "fingers".

You can fit a dome on an Jane / Janet boiler no problem. Like doug said they used a brass disc. The dome is machined rather than pressed. Here is a Mamod with an IP Jane Boiler fitted.



My 'Ronald' loco uses a Roundhouse dome fitted like this with a modification / addition to the Mamod part under the standard dome:

I have such a disc - I just need it lathed down a couple mm - I think Swordbreaker's dome is slightly narrower than normal.

Thanks very much for the photo's SB, you've got some crackers there!

I very much like the idea of the dome concealing the filler valve, it looks to be the simplest solution too!
But for my own personal preference, that would put the dome a little too far forward on a Dream Steam boiler.

Having attached the cab back to the tender, I now am in need of a mamod or Mss Cab roof if anyone has a spare one they don't want let me know! Thought I'd ask before I go and buy one which requires painting...

I have made a start on painting the inside of the tender black and the cab floor also got this treatment. I'll take some pictures and put them up tomorrow sometime.

10 days later here are the pictures... I have a cab roof on the way and something else that'll put some extra umpf in it!

The Cab roof arrived today and so did the bigger safety valve!
With glue, scissors, pliers and blue electrical tape at hand, Ofario, is nearly completed! All the tender needs is a bit of paint and some coal and all the loco needs is a water top up valve, meths burner and a pair of centre buffer bufferbeams! Anyway here are some pics:



The water tank cap was once the smoke box door on a hornby 0-4-0 loco!







I am going by the "If it looks right, then it is right" method here... And yes that is cardboard in the tender, soon to be painted black and have coal glued to it!
