My bottom is made like a deck, so there are gaps between boards, and there are slits in the plastic to allow it to drain. I will also be adding some ports to feed wiring to lights in buildings. I wont be adding the back fill for a few days, and its supposed to rain tomorrow, so I can see if it becomes a swimming pool or not. Thanks for the reminder though. I replaced the bricks with a raised treated wood roadbed today. Pics later. Mike

All these micro layouts have reminded me of an OO gauge railway I built for the kids when they were young:



I wonder if I can build something similar using SM32 track in the loft for winter running...

Trains are running! I placed a few buildings I want to use on the layout. The station and platform are where I want them, as is the log cabin. But the engine shed will need fine tuning once I get the rest of the track. Mike

Update time, been slowly backfilling the outer part of the layout as I have plans for something in the middle yet. Also completed the track plan and changed out one building. Everything is lighted at night now. Just running LGB 2073d on battery today, have a family get together in a little bit, so no time for live steam. Mike

Got some more progress done today, covered the peat with cypress mulch, and salvaged ballest off the old railway. Spent the afternoon watching my LGB 2073d pull a short consist around the line. Mike

Looks nice! The fountain in the middle is a nice attribute and adds interest as well. Will you be planting the layout as well or do you keep the mulch as top layer? It looks good too.

I will be putting a few potted plants around the layout. I am already planning its demise as I am going to be trading my live steamers for one that needs 2m radius curves. That was this layouts intended purpose, to serve as a segway to the next larger raised line. Just not in the budget this year to get the needed wood to build a larger raised line with larger curves. This one will remain till the next version is up and running. Hope to start stocking piling track by this fall. I start the process thru vocational rehabilitation to get back to work with accomidations for my autism tomorrow. Mike
