Reconstruction of the upper loop of the ANLR

Well dad has been working hard on the incline, so hard that this pic is already out of date!

I will post one of latest work at some point, although surfice to say it looks a lot better than it did when it was just a wooden board on top of my tunnel!
The track in the quarry has also no been connected to the rest of the railway, with the installation on a mamod point, donated by SLRmidge

I now have a little plea, if anyone has 3 or 4 lengths of straight mamod track they would like to get rid of, could you pm me as I would like to put in a short siding off the remaining leg of the point, without wanting to do any more work to make that leg suitable for peco sm32 (I have already spent a lot of time modifying that point for use)

I love that incline, great idea... I really need time to do some work on mine, need to see about the mine...

I like the old points too, make it look more 'run down quarryish'...

Well here is a more in date photo of the incline, as you can see it's quite impressive

On the other side of the incline, I have started building walls from slate to fill in the gaps, and I have also started building the tunnel portal (sized to let Accucraft superiors with tall chimneys and large Heywood brake vans through)

Dad has also started building a winding house for the incline, though he is having trouble finding something to make the drum from. Anyone have any ideas?
Well all things as they are, work is probebly 90% finished around the tunnel, with only a bit more soil, a liner and then the slate chippings to go back on top, however the quarry will take a lot more work as will the other scenics for the upper loop, including a couple of planting areas, and Nant Llywyd station (which is still only a platform)

Looking VERY impressive indeed. As for the drum, cotton reel? (if your mother sews etc, easy to get one...)

Cotton reel? Or would that be too small? I've also got a wooden bobbin somewhere in my room that's a little bigger. Though it would need to be weather proofed (blurgh, you know what I mean). Is that your old 00 track on the incline?

Hmmm, really you need to put it in a lathe to get the hole in the centre.

hmmm, me and dad came to that conclusion ourselfs about the lathe, and a cotton reel would probebly be a bit small, we are thinking about using a circular wooden stake if we can find on of the right diameter. The track on the incline is reguaged 00, but some triang stuff that dad bought specially (my 00 gauge layout is safe, for now )

Its all looking very impressive Laalratty! Just wish I could take the opportunity to get across the Bay for a steam up some time, but its just chaos at work at the moment! That incline looks really good! Looking forward to seeing it in person!

No pic this time, but my visit to the Seibiant hill railway was not just social, I went to pick up 5 lengths of straight mamod track for the quarry (although 3 lengths fitted exactly the gap, so I have 2 spare , and thanks very much to William for letting me have them )
The track has been roungly put down, so now i just need to get it all levelled and fixed down and the fettling of some joints on the track already layed
Bungle if you read this anytime soon, I would try and keep some weekends free around mid december if possible, as that will be the 1st anniversary of the full circuit of my railway, and I would like to have a steamup, either on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon

The Baguley just about managed to negotiate the track in the quarry-the hornby tinplate point needed to be held over by hand if the engine was not to derail
The winding house for the incline is comming on, the parts have all been made and they will be assembled shortly. In doing this dad has invented a liitle coupling attachment for attaching the string line to the wagon coupling, although the same attachment totally by accident makes a great little coupling adapter for coupling binnies wagons to normal buffer height stock, this is made out of a paper clip- of course

Nice to see the tunnel actually looking like a tunnel again. The quarry track looks brilliant and I look forwards to a vid of trucks going up and down the incline.
