A challenge to garden railway builders

Post by andymctractor » Sun Oct 27, 2013 10:59 pm

What about doing this railway in 16mm/ft or G scale and getting it to work in the garden?

If someone has done it before it would be intersting to see.

The 12"/ft version in black and white.

Watch this to the end to see how a 'level' crossing works on this railway.

This is going to blow your mind. Marc Horovitz already did it. At least, he made the engine and some track. A whole railway would be really something, although maybe limited in its "play value".

Thanks for posting that video Andy. It is amazing to see how much sideways rock there is in the scaled down version compared to the full size one.

I like the lifting bridge crossing, a variation of what was done on the canals.

Here is a good video showing the replica monorail in action, although it is diesel powered - http://youtu.be/ZA9KwWRbzdw

Cracking video Chris I liked the turn table. I still think it's a daft idea not sure what the advantage of this style of train is?

Wise indeed was the man who defined a monorail as "any system of railed transport using three or more rails". (Yes, I know there are exceptions.)

Kieth S mentioned that Marc Horovitz built a monorail in live steam and I found this YouTube video by chance today.

Hope it works.
