Evening run on the Maesfordd railway

Post by Dr. Bond of the DVLR » Wed Sep 25, 2013 8:10 pm

As I am currently bashing about on the Bure Valley Railway I arranged to visit the maesfordd railway in Norfolk. Had an absolutely smashing time on this very scenic, well thought out railway themed on the Corris Railway.
I took River Alde who out did herself putting in a sterling, reliable performance as usual and River Butley, Mr. Sherwood and I have been planning an Accucraft excelsior double header for several months and it finally happened! Anyway - on with the photos...

Maesfordd's RH bertie had a filler valve stick open failure sadly.

Brilliant! :D

Thanks Mr. B - the M&NG has been one of my favourite lines for years, I'm highly jealous that you were able to visit (even though you had to adjust to "sewage works railway" gauge ;) )
Video to follow I promise
You'd better! :D

Oh, any idea why Paul hasn't joined the GRF? (You can reply via PM if the answer is 'volatile' 8) )

Lovely pics Zach, as you and others may know I was also lucky enough to visit this line during the last week in August, it is a cracking little line.
Greg, Paul was a member during the (very) early months of the forum, but he drifted away quite early on, I think as his interests turned towards 7 1/4. At this point the 16mm line became very neglected to the point where it needed quite a lot of rebuilding. Of course, the Maesffordd line is thankfully flourishing once again.
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

Love that railway, really wish he would restart his website, it was always such an interesting read.

Does he still have that little line of rusting mamods being swallowed up by MYOB?

Thanks Chris, we certainly lost a valuable asset there!
Not only was the railway truly inspirational, but of course he's now set up the Farcebook Narrow Gauge Garden Railways page (where as an occasional visitor I notice several of our ex-luminaries now share their on-line presence ;) )
