Here is an example of a Mamod loco hauling a good load, it is standard apart from a three wick meths burner.

This experiment was done on my earlier short circuit railway which was almost dead level with minimum 8ft radius curves. The coaches are all wooden or metal bodied but very free rolling. The loco was only filled 3/4 full of water & the wicks where set as high as they could be without burning above the firebox. Running on full "valve" it pulled this load for about 10mins.
