You should be OK with PVA, it's what I use on my indoor layouts :D

If you mean "will PVA stick ballst" - yep, no probs, best way is to lay the ballst, then mix a 50/50 PVA/water solution (add a drop of washing up liquid to break the surface tension) and then carefully soak the ballst.
It sets in 24 hours.

If you mean "what do I use for ballst" - that's going to really come down to the look that you're after.
Anything from commercial 7mm scale ballst, cork chippings, sand, sawdust etc all give good effects.

Neat! (But you need to check your camera instructions for "Macro" settings to get clear close-up photo's ;) )

Yeah, I'm not to good with cameras. got this one for christmas, and I stil haven't fully worked out how to use it yet.
