Despite saying that I wouldn't be starting another project before I finished another one I have done just this. I'm going to produce a loco on a Binnie Engineering bolster wagon chassis for about £15, it will probably have the pulling power of a shrimp, but as it only needs to haul about 3 empty skips this should be fine. The body work will be based around this little loco which runs at Amberley (
http://narrowgaugeindustrial.fotopic.net/c428817.html ). I'm taking photos throughout the construction with the ambition of writeing a couple of articles for SMT or Garden Rail as the design is very diverse, it's simple to build and there are a whole range of ways you could improve the loco.
I spent a couple of hours cutting a motor mount, probably the most critical bit which needs making, it was then superglued to the frame.
Motor mounted on the mount with araldite, the gear was quite loose so I slapped a lot of araldite there to hold it.
We shall find out tomorrow if this £9 chassis works, if it does then I'll probably put it in a box and work on it after my exams.
