As you can probably tell I enjoy taking photo's/film of 16mm stuff almost as much as running them. Whilst I'm not a major enthusiast of counting rivits I still like a pic that looks historic or semi real. I've tried a few pics & films before now but just been messing about tonight with mostly todays pics to see what effects can be done with my limited skills.
All photo's edited with Irfanview (which is a free photo editor) as I am not rich enough to own photoshop (well I was but then got back into model railways!)

These are my first batch, yes there are quite a few as I have been playing about for an hour...

Hard to edit out the background but hopefully the foreground takes your eyes of it.

Great stuff Shane especially the '50's Technochrome ones!!

The sunlight on the last photo looks brilliant, very atmospheric!
I'm going to have to have a bash at that effect myself!

Good grief Pendo those are excellent pictures. The one of "Countess" and the brake standing at the platform in "technochrome" looks like the real thing if it wasn't for the pressure gauge peeking out of the locomotive spectacle!

What type of model is "countess"? Is it Accucraft? It's quite realistic in its own right, lovely valve gear...

Those are excellent pictures, suitable for framing. Most people wouln't know they were miniatures. You could show a visitor one of those shots, and tell them it was a picture of the prototype, and that you've been trying to build a model of it. You would fool them!

I have found a few old newspaper cuttings showing the Eaves Green Tramway, not far from here.

(Very inexperienced at this fancy photo editing lark, but quite enjoying experimenting.)

Yes the Countess is an Accucraft example, one from the last batch they did. As well as looking stunning (in my mind anyway) she is also a brilliant steamer with oodles of power on tap. Certainly one of those locos I can just admire on a shelf as well. :D Although nothing beats seeing her move, the motion is amazing to watch for some reason.

As far as I'm aware accucraft stopped making the L&B bogie brake which is a real shame as I would love another. Mine rides really well. Would love the L&B bogie opens as well but they are no longer available either.

Nice pics Richard, this has to be my fav. The trackbed looks great as well on this, the tufts of weeds here & there seem to make it really real.

Yup, I was really pleased how it came out.

The line belongs to David Rowbotham; his Caradoc was described in the 16mm special edition that Model Engineer did a couple of years ago. Trackbed is built of broken paving slabs, you can see it better in the original of that photo:

Immediately to the right it leads on to this amazing viaduct (only a small part shown here):

Nice ones Tom, like the one from the coach. Adding a little blur to B&W pics seems to work for me. Not too much, but just a little.

Been messing about with another free photo editor tonight. This one is called photoscape.

Knocked these up with it, not used to this editor yet but I was quite happy with these. BTW I hope Greg & Pete don't mind me borrowing there own pics to edit?

Mmmh, think I'm gonna have to get me a copy of that "photoscape"! I really like the scratches and fancy corners!

Not so good here though - too much 1:1 stuff in the "wide angle" shots, plus lots of "raw edges" to the new stuff that needs final fixing and weathering in, but it's a view of this mornings work. (Must get SWMBO busy with her Photoshop!)

Well after seeing Shanes post saying about Photoscape i decided to download it and give it a try

. Its much more simpler than photoshop in my opinion and a great little piece of free software. I spent about an hour on it this morning and a bit this afternoon and this is what I ended up with and Im very pleased with how these have come out

Hopefully I'll get some more nice pictures at the steam up tomorrow that i can do the same too

How does one achieve the "1950s effect" with photographs? I'd like to have a go with Paintshop Pro, even though, according to my fictitious history, that would mean photoshopping all the stock into BR livery first...

Those look excellent. I may have a go when I have the time, and have taken some decent, recent shots once I've got the grass mown etc hahaha.
