Terrific photo of the week on the 16mm website from our very own SLRmidge, highly recommended for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

I'd just like to know how you got the pavement & curbstones beyond the level crossing spot on!!???????

At this point I will jump in and say that the photo has been taken on my own Afonglas and Nant Llywyd Railway

It was back at my 21st birthday steamup last September.
The modelling talent and "realism" is alas not my own, all credit for that section of the line goes to my dad. He built the buildings and did the road and curbs etc. The curb is actually a length of wood, the road just concrete and mortar.

Thats exactly the look dad was trying to achieve, the gates are based on those at Penrhyn. However, the crossing cottage across the line is based on Lotties crossing

Is that the one at Blaenau xing I see now! I like the stucko walling ive achieved this with some of my builds! Very good!

Keep up Brian.
In his book "Garden Railway Realism" he berates the fact that most garden railfarers don't "do" modelling, especially beyond the cess!

No, Lotties crossing is the one crossing a minor road below Minffordd, also known as quarry lane crossing. Anyway thanks for the positive comments, dad is well pleased with himself

This is new to me and I class myself a modeller and a modeller is one that goes to great lengths to achieve realism obviously someone that produces a book is in it for the money Im sorry that folks buy them in the modelling world!

I don't think I can use that method now (I've put a "base" in already) so I'll have to come up with another cunning plan
