Johns lovely railcar - with a smokey exhaust?!!!! Not really, a passing loco on the lower circuit :D

 ME WANTS THAT ESCORT!!!!! *becomes an excited mosher*

Great pics & lovely steam effects. Shame about that Millie. It's been ruined with that tatty repaint, those LGB couplings, the extended body & that it's on the 'other' gauge

Thanks for giving me and George an enjoyable visit :D We hope to return in warmer weather with the Millie (which will look much better as it will be finished next time ;) ) and also George wants to bring his Ragleth.

George will post his piccies Tuesday

No need to be so harsh to LGB, 45mm gauge and Chris.

Looks like a grand time was had, seeing as George got up to butterly it ought not be to much of an extra trek for me to get there.

The green one? Is that not from Brandbright? or is it a different version?

both FR quarrymans and the guards van are merlin kits from the early 80's

That's certainly one approach to fitting all the RC bits in! An interesting challenge on a Millie, mine is staying manual.

so by saying they're from the 80's, would i be right in thinking that they arent around anymore? I suppose the Brandbright one is now the closest you'll get to it?

yes, no available. although atropos used to do the double balcony van, i think he still may produce them

Brandbright do the single balcony one. I'll ask atropos but it will probably be expensive. I may find the drawings and scratchbuild

may i just add my Millie is still in the process of being modernized and is certainly NOT finished! the wires will be covered by a coal bunker and once this is done, the loco will be going to Georges for a FULL repaint as my dad done the last while it was left at home and i was at uni and i agree it looks awful.

Once the coal bunker is finished and the loco repainted by George it will look much improved

Hey Chris, don't let a certain persons comments wind you up!
There's nothing wrong with a "work in progress" - at least you turned up with it and had a quick run :D

Nice to see you both and I hope you enjoyed your visit to the Midland Railway Centre. Look forward to seeing you again and hope the Ragleth pays a visit next time!

I did a double-take when I saw this picture. It looks an incredibly lifelike scene, perfectly complemented by the full-size railway backdrop. The only giveaway is the van and signalbox being larger than the Lady Anne in the foreground, producing an optical illusion of a bizarre inverted perspective where things get larger as they get further away...or that just me?

It cirtainly looked realistic from where I was sitting though I must say the novel I am reading at the moment is most gripping...
