Lining on the tanks

A very popular starting point for Live Steam. With their low cost comes a number of problems which can be discussed here

Lining on the tanks

Post by Sir Clothem Cap » Sat Nov 20, 2010 6:44 pm

I want to line out one of my mamods that has had a full repaint but I.m not sure how to acheive a good finish.

Has anyone done this and how do you do it?

I would have thought trimline would do the job? or can't they withstand the heat from the side tanks?

For a "one off", you could try (top quality) masking tape??

I've never used trimline myself (and maybe i should have when i lined out Pheonix to begin with! ) i think it's a waterslide thing? or something simular, can't remember now!

It's self adhesive, comes on a roll in the colour of your choice in several line "widths". Only the narrowest two are of any real use though.

Oops, double post, but I've just remembered - Locolines produce a set of lining transfers for the Mamod :D

I used gold trimline to do my bertie. It's not good for tight corners so obviously you can only do the square lining and not have the curved edges. I used two widths to do this. The link to that topic is below
