Forest Fields Railway September steamup 2010

Yes it's that time of year again, the September steamup at the Forest Fields Railway. This time there was a distinct lack of other forum members, only me and riveresk! The turnout from the rest of the NWAG wasn't fantastic either (only 5 or 6 I think), but a good time was had by those who attended

Whernside and the Ingleton Light Railway goods train

Resident Roundhouse Katie, Hartside heads up the spiral. There hadn't been any changes to the line since the June steamup, apart from a much needed extension to the upper run round loop!

Taliesin and my "large" carriages, which don't suit Taliesin particualy, the "barn" is designed to look right marshalled between my models of FfR van 4 and van 5

The Fairfield Railway's newly lightlined Roundhouse Atlantic. Alas it took an extreme dislike to one section of track, and tipped on its side, not once, or even twice, but three times, causing some damage to the trasfers and a bit of the paintwork and lining on one side tank

Argyll (as it has been named, rather then Atlantic) heads up onto the spiral

The Atlantics have a tendency to derail when running forwards. this seems to be because of the large rear overahang, a slight kink in the track and the loco kicks its tail out and jumps sideways. maybe roundhouse should think about some latitudinal spinging? The old Argyll's tend to suffer a bit in this way to but not as much.

Well I think all three times it was running in reverse, can't remember for the first incident but the other 2 were when it was running in reverse. There was negative camber on the track but it did seem to go over a bit too easily

Nope, up in Scotland driving and fireing Thomas the Tank Engine I thought you could make it though, was a bit suprised when you didn't turn up
