Today I visited John Brittain's track. It's a very nice line and a superb array of locos were visiting today, my favourite being the russell, closely folowed by nigel towns Gowrie and of course the pair of coal fired Darjeeling C class pacifics which were brilliant. A finescale Dolgoch was also a nice suprise. In total there were no less than three lynton and barnstaple maning wardle locos. I borrowed my grandads pearse genesis for the day. It ran great apart from the radio packing up at the end

In places the line is quite steep and this gradient is on a curve so there was lots of noise to be heard rounding that corner

Wow, some very nice stuff that I've never seen at any steamup. Nicely scenic line as well

Cor, some brilliant stuff there! That looks a really nice line too.
As for that army of quarrymen

I've never seen so many!!!!

Probably because they cost £95 per coach!

Impressive though, makes you think about what the real think must have looked like - especially on their way home from a shift!
(Bet they'd all be glad to be sitting in open carriages, imagine those sweaty bodies crammed into a closed rake

)

I always used to tell passengers on the NG at Butterley that they were indulging in the almost-lost art of Collier's Knee Interlocking as there wasn't much legroom in a colliery manriding coach. The newer ones have a bit more room............
