Yeah, well done SB, it made me laugh for hours!
For info to the others, me and SB both have our forklifts, so there may be a little post about modifying them in the future.

Another interesting video William.
Is the chimneyless Mamod SL1 a runner?
This is the second video I've watched with those forklifts in action. Looks to me that the gearing for the drive wheels is a little bit high, a lower gearing would give a more realistic speed when moving.

It is a runner to the extent that it'll go reasonably well forwards once you're up to top pressure.

Is it fitted with the uprated 'O' ring pistons, as these are difficult to get running freely and need a lot of lubrication?

No it doesn't have them, it's a very free runner, just there's no oomff in it, even at working pressure.

I have an SL1K like that and I've decided it is the cylinders/pistons that are to blame, as there is no sign of a major steam leak elsewhere.
When I've managed to get some of the proper 'O' rings I'll try fitting a 2nd hand 'O' ring upgrade kit I got some time ago - one of the 'O' rings was broken.

Graham I had been looking through ebay for these Radio Control Fork Lifts, when I decided to check through Google.
Found the cheapest deal yet, £14.57 including UK delivery, which included a 10% voucher discount (voucher expires 29 February 2008) at Memory Bits -
http://www.memorybits.co.uk/shop/gifts- ... klift/5629
If you are interested in one I could get one for you and then arrange to get it to you whilst you are on your UK motorhome tour.

I recommend it mate, I'm still playing with it (the 2st set of batts are still in there, but just running down! - economical!
) I love to lift stuff on my desk and dump it where I need it! lol
