is this to big

hello chaps

i have been drawing out a peckett on page 66 of the industrial narrow gauge album.
if you dont have the book, heres a link to a picture

My main concern is that i have made it to big to look right.
It stands at 154mm tall and 263mm to outside of buffer beams.

what do you think?

I don't know, sounds about the same size as an accucraft loco.

I've finally got my hands on said book. I like the egine your doing, although personally, I prefere the skylark loco at the top of the page.

Nice loco that. Have you got a 16mm figure to hand? Stand him against your drawing and see how it compares to the photo. I'd also get the dimensions of an Accy Excelsior and make sure it's no bigger than that, although the Peckett is noticeably shorter.

As said before I really like the skylark. The pecket looks nicely proportioned and full of charm.

the skylark is very nice. but has been done before in 16mm, this peckett hasnt. So if i did build it, hopefully it would be unique

It's probably a bit overscale, but it'd look fine with Accucraft stuff. Depends what you are after really. Your dimensions appear pretty similar to an Edrig, having waved a ruler at mine. What are you thinking, total scratchbuild or using commercial cylinders/ boiler? Coal, gas or meths?

Always thought this beastie would make a good 16mm model, it's big enough not to need the boiler topping up every 5 minutes for starters!

total scratch build,   coal would be nice but cant coal fire with that back to it. Internal maths would also be good, but harder to design a proper boiler for it. so it probs end up normal internal fired gas.

to be honest there arent really any bits that i can buy that will go on, apart from cranks and axles.

The cylinders are to own design, but using dimensions from roundhouse, e.g. same stroke, eccentric throw, port hole positions etc.

Got the book now- I'd say it probably is a bit. You'd be better of trying to get dimensions for something like a Finescale Peckett and working from that (i.e. making it slightly bigger...).
