Britt Allcroft, who brought "Thomas and Friends" to the screen, dead at 81

Sad news, Britt Allcroft has passed away. If it hadn't been for her TV adaptations many of us US kids of the 80s and 90s probably never would've heard of that little blue tank engine who inspires young rail fans and modelers to this day.

Rewatching the show with my kids it still blows my mind how much modeling went into its creation, and how closely they were able to match many of the original illustrations from the books using actual models and scenery.

The original model series still holds up because so much of it was built with real miniatures instead of CGI. You can tell how much care went into every scene, and that's a big reason people are still introducing it to their kids today.schermo rotto scherzo
