Headlamp housings

Post by Phil.P » Mon Apr 08, 2024 2:21 pm

I have recently bought a railtruck kit, and it has a cross-piece with circular ends, with a hole for a LED.

Think the older truck, with the lights sticking out either side of the bonnet.

Does anyone know of a 3D print (possibly) of a parabolic housing, that these had?

I just think it will lift the model, a little.
Of course, if there are commercial mouldings, these would be acceptable, as well.

Could you just draw something up so I know what sort of thing you are looking for, I may, or may not have something already or that can be adapted / modified.

Is this the sort of thing you are thinking of, Phil? ( as a f'rinstance)

Give us some dimensions and I'm sure one of us can come up with something to suit.

Have a look at the Model T Ford headlights (and others) included in Dave Watkins' Crewe Tractor models on Thingiverse:

Answering both of you..

That sort of idea, but more of a point to the back.

Draw a semi-circle, grab the centre of the curve at the back, and 'pull' it outwards a little..

Thanks Rik, might be a possibility, but that photo is dire!
