Track recommendations
Hello, I have a Roundhouse Katie that I am slowly building. I bought a length of Peco G45 track to put her on as I build her but am now thinking about buying more track. The Peco track is quite expensive, especially when I'll need quit a lot and some points eventually. My question is, are there other alternatives to the Peco brand that people would recommend that is a little cheaper?
Re: Track recommendations
Tenmille do all the components you need to make track (as do Peco actually), but not sure how much cheaper.
Ready made track from Cliff Barker is cheaper than Peco, including turnouts, and is high quality. The rail section is different to Peco though, so joining Peco to Cliff Barker can be a challenge.

If you don't mind second hand, there have been some offers on the facebook group "Garden Railway Trading Group". It may be worth a wanted ad (you'll need to join the group as it's private, assuming you are a facebook subscriber).

Re: Track recommendations
Peco 45mm track is generally cheaper than track from G Scale manufacturers such as LGB, Piko, Trainline, USAt and Aristocraft because the profile of the rails is finer and hence requires less metal. Tenmille is a halfway house between them and Peco unless, as Phil says, you make your own.
However, buying secondhand is a good option. You can sometimes get bargains on eBay, but I've generally found that buying from shops such as Kent Garden Railways, Garden Railway Specialists or Garden Railways Ltd works out a bit cheaper.

Re: Track recommendations Make it yourself
Started making my own flexi track Quite pleased with result so far Not for the dedicated track realist but I can make long lengths with economy LOL
Here you see I am sliding plastic rail into the sleepers as I am RC battery powered . I could put metal rail in but for me benefits direct cab control outweigh hassles of track electrics . Indoor or garden.
Highly recommend you go RC battery power and forget all that track electric DCC dodgy connection mumbo jumbo
this is O guage 32mm between rails. Guess the pic gives the idea.

Re: Track recommendations
I agree with you wholeheartedly about the preference for battery RC over DCC (or track power generally). As they say, been there, done that!
Your plastic component track looks interesting. Are you 3D printing it?

Peco Points unavailable
I am building an indoors SM32 Live Steam layout in my home for the last several months and the availability of Peco SM32 points is drying up. Can not find any source anymore in the USA and now as I contact UK dealers they are reporting everything is Out Of Stock. Does anyone know if Peco is ever getting back into production of SM32 points in the near future? Does anyone know of a dealer that still has SM32 stock left? Thanks for any help!
At the moment due to track plan additions I am in need of one each SL-E691 RH and SL-E692 LH small radius turnouts, and 6 more sticks of SL-600 SM32 36 inch flex track to continue track laying.
