When I saw that Graham was building a loco to the book by Brian Wilson, I instantly had plans to follow suit.

I ordered the book a couple of days ago and, even though Camden said it was out of stock, it arrived today.

I've had a quick flick through, and I have decided to build two locos at the same time. Thing is, they will be completely different bar the boiler.

One will be an 0-4-0, based on the Hunslet 'Jack'.



And the other based on the Peckett 0-6-0's 'Triassic','Liassic' and 'Jurassic'.



I'm drawing up the 0-6-0 frames in AutoCAD so I can get them laser cut by Model Engineers Laser.

Whichever one gets finished first will be named 'Guildford', and the second 'Haslemere'.

Oh, and they will both be coal fired!

Proper work will be started once I have finished all my other kits

The Jack is an 18inch gauge prototype, but Triassic/Jurassic/Liassic were 2 foot gauge, and Triassic can still be seen on the Bala Lake Railway, and Jurassic is preserved somewhere.

Jurassic is owned by the Lincolshire coast light railway.  They operated in north lincolshire for 1960 to 1985, untill a lack of passengers forced them to close.  The railway is now being rebuilt at the Skegness water leisure park, and will reopen in 2 days time..  Jurassic however, although intact, needs a heavy rebuild before it can steam.

I have nearly finished drawing up the 0-6-0 frames in AutoCAD. It needs a few more dimensions, a frame cutout between the two rearmost axles and a bit of tidying up.



This loco will be gas fired, as it will be a passenger hauling loco, and the centre wheelsets will be 'blind' to enable it to negotiate sharper curves.

I've now finished the frame drawings for the Peckett, as well as the buffer and drag beams. I have to clear some things up with MEL (Model Engineers Laser) then I'll be getting them cut





I've also started the Hunslet buffer and drag beam drawings, these require a bit more work as they have a few more bolt holes to add in. Plus I cannot decipher from the picture I have of the prototype whether they are bolts or rivets...
