some more videos of the latest changed. It now has an AC generator instead of DC and uses gearing instead of a straight 1:1 coupling.

Below are some videos of the diesel on a test track in my garden...

Please stay tuned as ive got the 4 stroke diesel number 3 coming out the shed soon.

Enjoy

As promised, ive made some more videos, this time at the club, and pulling and shunting wagons and coaches up and down gradients. 32 axles piled with real wood batons seems pretty good to me, please let me know what you guys think.

Pilgrim Locomotive Works

Hi
I was the original PLW man, and sold the business on to Dave Clark a long time ago.

Many have commented about the look of the Tradesmen. Well the body is a box to cover all the hot and fast turning bits inside. It is entirely functional. As any full size loco.

After 5 years of living in a rented flat I now own my own hose again so in a few years I will start a railway, equip a workshop and use the last OS FS26 engine I kept to build one more 'diesel'.

Noise: silencing is easy. Calm the gases using 15mm copper pipes and silver solder it all together. Use a 25mm dia expansion box as deep as you can and about 2.5mm exhaust pipe. I had it sorted so that at 1m distance with the loco sitting there in idle a normal conversation could be had.

Barry, now largely recovered from tenosynovitis so the garden calls me again!

Hi Barry

I know we have spoken on other forums before, but I think that the look of your locomotives, is what gave them character> I had uploaded of few pictures on this forum and another, of two of your locomotives, the tradesman, and another twin bogie yellow creation of yours, and frankly my hat comes of to you Sir.

I have tried to get into contact with that guy on youtube, who has a video of your pilgrim Pioneer, but no reply, after sending several messages...

I would love to see one of your locos up close and running, or even better, own one myself.

For those of you who have not seen the video, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqoD1ajht18

Regards

Anton

Pilgrim Pioneer

Post by Barry Reeves » Sat Mar 30, 2013 5:04 pm

Hello Anton

I sold that to the chap who made the video. Later I heard from him that it was damaged. I think, but do not know, that it may have fallen off a shelf and onto a solid floor. The loco weighted 22lbs, 10kg, and the body was brass. Such a fall would have smashed the body and perhaps damaged the engine.

The Pioneer was the test bed loco. When built it had a 'diesel' engine which used a foul and dangerous fuel. I wrecked that when the Pioneer pulled a 50 vehicle train!

Then it tested the OS FS26 engine that all the others had and also the exhaust system that all the locos sold had.

The will be another diesel from me one day but in a few years.

Pilgrim Live Diesel

Post by Hope Mountain Railway » Sun Apr 26, 2015 7:16 pm

I'm the new owner of the 'Yellow' Pilgrim Merchant Bo-Bo Live Diesel pictured earlier in this thread. It is not running currently, but hope it will after a clean up and a few new bits. Does anyone know what happened to the second Pilgrim Merchant? Is it still running?

I think the answer to that question may be found here:
