Need someone to build a butane tank

Post by artfull dodger » Sun Oct 16, 2016 2:43 am

Looking for someone to build me a butane fuel tank that fits in the firemans side side tank of my LGB/Aster Frank S. Finescale Engineering used to offer one, but nolonger are able to. I hate having to deal with the water bath in the tender to keep fuel pressure up in cooler weather. The old Finescale tank stretched from the rear of the cab to the front of the side tank with the fill valve at the front. You drilled 3 holes, two in the floor to screw the tank down and one in the top of the side tank for the fill valve to poke up into. The tank reused the factory gas valve/knob and flex hose to the gas jet to keep costs down. Fabrication of one of these is beyond my ablites. Anybody here able to and willing to make me one? Thanks Mike

Have you got an accurate drawing of the original tank?

Forest classics make bespoke tanks. Send them a drawing and they'll make it. Reasonable prices aswell!

I do not have a drawing of the original tank, neither does Finescale Engineering as I asked them.  I may just try to adapt a Accucraft tank into the cab if I don't trade the engine off.  Looking for a Roundhouse classic series engine or one of the 4 coupled Merlin Monarchs.  Mike
