Bing O clockwork loco
I came across an un-named clockwork O gauge chassis on eBay and acquired it at a reasonable price. A little research indicated that it was probably made by Bing in Germany. It is in excellent condition, but needed the wheel flanges reducing as they clipped the chairs. A few minutes work with the Unimat sorted that. I tried the chassis on the railway and it ran well, after I had bought a suitable winder key.
I decided a simple 0-4-0 shunter body would suit the bill and so I built a freelance one from 2mm MDF. Other items included pipe and washers for the chimney, body filler dome and used sparklers for handrails. The smokebox was a cap from a bottle of Merlot after drinking. Mmmm!
The little engine has a fair turn of speed and will do just over a complete lap of my 25 yard circuit. The grandchildren think it's great

That looks nice. What a pity you had your go to all that effort for the smoke box door.
If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer!

I can smell the Merlot from here.... or is it in front of me in my wine glass?
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

That's a little cracker, I can see why the grandchildren would like the clockwork arrangement. Good use of an old chassis, wonder what it was and who had it for birthday/Christmas?
Re: Bing O clockwork loco
Perfect little loco for the grandkids.
