Video of My Live Steam Loco No.1 - Mamod SL1

Here is a video of my first Live Steam loco, a standard SL1 from an RS1 set. It has only been solid fuel fired, and this set is currently stored in complete condition. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w283/CCairns_2007/Mamod%20Steam%20Railway%20Company/Locomotives/SL1/th_MyLiveSteamLocoNo1.jpg And...

2 more diesels I think (very basic), but I've got a huge collection of Faller E Train and Triang/Novo Big Big Train items as well, plus other oddities.

I've found my Live Steam Loco No.5 so will be posting that first.

My Non Steam Locos No.1 - JD Models Hunslet

Whilst sorting out my model steam store (built-in wardrobe in a spare bedroom) I managed to uncover my No.1 Non Steam Loco, which is this JD Models Hunslet. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w283/CCairns_2007/Garden%20Railways%20General/JD%20Models/JDModelsHunslet01.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/...

My video camera was bought secondhand on ebay, and the screen started to play up a little, which finally broke when I dropped my camera bag on a railway tour. Viewfinder still works OK. So I must look at mounting it on a flat wagon or open wagon to get some of these lineside action shots, with steam...

Excellent video William.

I really must get cracking this year when the weather improves and start to get my Garden Railway laid out.

ptlrcecil Thanks for sharing those great photos. What type of loco is that you've featured, as it is very nice looking and I assume that the whistle is a working model? South-Trethevy It is all to do with a thing called geography, and the influence that the North Atlantic Drift has on your county. ...

A Saxon Meyer has both the power units facing the same direction, and I think one is articulated and the other one fixed (not got access to my reference books at present).

As already stated the above photo is of a Garratt type loco.

In the Transport Museum in Dresden there is an early Fairlie type loco which is very similar to your concept here as it has two boilers, etc.

I'll see if I can find a photo when I return to Glasgow late tonight.

I'd seen that coach on ebay, so it is good that it matches your coach very well.

Thanks for the kind comment Graham.

Although I've yet to lay a rail down for my Garden Railway, I'm building up quite a collection of photos of my stock, so I must look into starting a Freeweb website like yourself and others.

Hi Graham, thanks for sharing that video with us. The first time I watched it it was somewhat jerky, but must have been an ISP thing as watching it again it behaved properly. Good to see that you got the water sight glass fixed on the SL1K. Those screw fittings make it so much easier to do than the ...

My Non Steam Locos No.3 - Unknown Maker

Have not managed to find my No.1 buried in my wardrobe so far , so here is my No.3 Non Steam Loco, which is this unidentified Diesel. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w283/CCairns_2007/Garden%20Railways%20General/Unknown%20Diesel/UnknownDiesel.jpg It was bought as a collection of bits when I was b...

Mamod Wagons Kit Bashed

Here are some Mamods that I got on ebay which have been 'kit bashed'. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w283/CCairns_2007/Mamod%20Steam%20Railway%20Company/Rolling%20Stock/MamodKitBashed01.jpg Looks like this started life as a Mamod Lumber Wagon as there is evidence of rivets having been fitted to ...

Hi, had to look at one of your photos on the Unofficial Mamod Forums to check which water top-up valve you have. As Graham ( ACLR ) has already stated you just need to replace the silicone tube on this valve. I had one go in the same fashion, and it was caused by crud from the water getting under th...

I've found that some of the Pound Stores do a small box of 'O' rings for £1. Although metric size I have found these OK for the Mamod steam chest 'O' ring over the steam pipe, same size for the regulator/reverser steam and exhaust pipes, and I've used one on the regulator of a Mamod SP6 as the fitte...

I've been using the butane/propane mix in my Mamod William, and it was the gas mix recommended by Cheddar Models for use with their ceramic burners. It apparently works better than the butane only gas in cold weather - like just now! I also find it easier to buy, as the butane gas tends to be sold a...

Why not send him an e-mail to discuss your requirements - his website http://www.robbennett.org/ and e-mail address robert.bennett2@virgin.net
