Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill

The plan is working so far. It is going to be a large structure as Rick said. Thanks for the kind comments Gregh, I agree that there is no other way of tackling this. I have laid out the next section this morning and prepared the ground. It is fitting into the available space, and it hasn't disappe...

Re: Buying a 3D printer

I am now down to the business end of my search and the Ender3 V2 is now the front runner and will most likely be ordered shortly when they become available in Aust. To expand on my original use for a 3D printer, my wife made a comment along the line of "could you use it to make buildings?"...

Re: The G&DLR begins.

I think visitors have preferences when they view our railways - just as we each have aspects of the hobby which float our boats (to mix metaphors). So, the more we put into our models, the more likelihood they will appeal to a wider audience. However, as Rod says, the only person we really need to ...

I think I've got my name down for one I can't quite get my head around that statement..! No, it doesn't make much sense, does it?!! I MUST have my name down for one, because I've paid a deposit, I guess I just haven't heard anything for a while, so it seems a little unreal. As does spending such a ...

Re: Deltang - Faulty ICs resp. soldering?

If you bought your equipment from Micron, you could always email Andy. He's very good at responding and might be able to help. Rik I have bought Deltang from both Micron and RC Trains, and had the occasional fault and found both Andy and Phil to be receptive, and each time (except where royal Mail ...

I have Corsican Mint, and it does seed well once established, and smells nice when "brushed" against.

Hi all, Trying to get a grips with a typical 1930's interior colour. Supposedly, the WHR carriages were painted in a variety of colours using household paint. This included two summer carriages in blue and pink(!) What sort of shades would you expect? I always imagined the pink so be a subdued pale...

Re: kits for broken screw mounts?

I have had a few of these, first I find a plastistrut tube that fits over the mount and cut to length, assuming it will not interfere with re-assembly, I the fill the screw hole and crack with plastic filler, and glue on the plastic ring. I normally leave 24 hrs and then pilot drill out the hole, an...

For that I use Septone heavy duty paint stripper from Supercheap Auto. It's nasty stuff (read the MSDS) designed to remove auto and aircraft finishes from metal. Painted on with an old brush and even two part paints wrinkle up in a few minutes and can be scrubbed off with with an old toothbrush and...
