Re: Lubricating a live steam engine

I have seen 3 in 1 oil recommended and sewing machine oil are these OK or should I use some other oil. I have steam oil for the piston lubricator its just the connecting rods and other moving parts I am wondering about. Accucraft recommend 3 in 1 oil for the chassis bearings in their loco manuals. ...

Re: Lubricating a live steam engine

I use ordinary car engine oil, SAE 10W 40, I think it is. For the moving parts most oils will do as long as it is done regularly. However, if this is incorrect, I would be happy to be corrected :)

Very nice, however without a "ball park" price you are after, I will not make an offer in case it insults you :)

I sort of knew this is a predominantly 32mm forum, but you never know, there might be a rogue in here somewhere. :D :D :D Guilty ........ I must be very slow on the uptake ...... I've only just worked out the significance of "Hal Farsed". I'd always been imagining it's some burly Sw...

Re: Aristocraft 11099

Hi John Do you want me to post a message on the G Scale Central forum on your behalf? You might find there's more 45mm gauge interest on there. I'd take some of them myself if I didn't already have ten lengths of 45mm track stacked in the workshop awaiting the next extension to the PLR. Rik Rik you...

Rik PS There was something on the radio yesterday saying people should wear their clothes for longer than a year to help save the planet. My attitude to clothes is similar to my attitude on cars. Use them until they fall apart ..... 😬 I have nothing less than a year old, and the suit I am currently...

Re: PLA curling at the nozzle

Rik yes my springs were compressed as that but as I adjusted the bed they became looser and did not provide enough tension on a couple of addjustment wheels. I replaced the original springs with the one I bought and that problem went away. I levelled the bed and again tried to print but with no suc...

Re: PLA curling at the nozzle

I was considering buying a printer last year, but space, time, and what I would really need it for stopped me. Having read through this saga of yours, it has been inspiring as to some of the issues a novice can encounter. I do have sympathy with you, as I too have had issues when engaging in a new (...

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill

At the Welsh Botanic Garden today in the Japanese garden I spotted Leptinella Squalida which is a low growing mat forming plant which might be suitable for the bank. I will have to look for that - its about time we visited again Trevor It's fairly widely available. I got two at different times, but...

Re: loco weight?

The link for the Fowler says the loco is 3.4 Kg, I assume dry weight, water capacity is around 300 ml, so 300 gms, so wet weight will be around 3.7kg.

I assume you are talking about "cotoneaster". If you know somebody that has the variety you want, their garden will be full of seedlings. I have to pull and throw hundreds away every year, it is a very prolific plant.

Re: Dduallt Station building

Half of the roof has been printed: IMG_1767.jpg I have placed a spare capping tile loose on the top, and it is clear that the angle is wrong, and it covers too much of the slate underneath it. However I think that can be fixed easily by shrinking the component to fit. Trevor A beautiful job, and i ...

I had drawn up a tool box with tabs so the sides lined up so this was also in the little package from Model Engineer LASER, cooked up with 243 solder. This will hide the handle for the bypass valve. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51520970848_3a0093eca3_c.jpg IMG_6633 by Darrell McCulloch , on ...

My wish list there was a better range of RC controls for model railways . Since the application is clearly mature in model aircraft.
