My dads boilers are all built to his own drawings by Tony Sant at finescale engineering. His bufferbeams on No 1 are wood with metal braces as on the prototype, the rest was all turned and metal bashed.

Yes, you can fit Tony Sant 'Dolgoch' wheels to the chassis to give them the correct appearance too! The reverser servo sits between the frames then you just have the squeeze the rest in the cab. Our No 1 really is a squeeze but it works and its all nice and neat.

You are quite correct in your findings, there are not too many inside framed locos on the market. The nearest to what you are looking for would have been roundhouses 'Tom Rolt' which is now a discontinued model but you may pick one up through a supplier such as brandbright. The best way to go is a b...

With a multi tube boiler you are going to expose the tubes alot quicker though. The problem with the boiler is that its not square into the smoke box, if that joint is not air tight then it will effect the draw on the fire and production of steam. I think if i had bought a new loco i would want it t...

The boiler should certainly not slant as this will expose the top of the tubes at the smokebox end of the boiler at lower water levels. This may also make the smokebox seal to the boiler leak as the joint will not be square

I think you might have a valve gear timing problem there. Plus the way the smoke puffs out of the firebox door when you open it might suggest a daughting problem, the blower should really be pulling that up the chinmney even with the fire door open.

Another problem could be the grate. Is that blocking? Is the ashpan too close to the bottom of the grate and filling with ash?
A photo of the loco would be helpful with detail of the fire box and grate.

Looking at the quality of engineering that has gone into making the model build time alone must be worth £14k. Its a stunning model and if i had a lucky lotto ticket i would be measuring the side board to see if it would fit!

I didnt shell out any money either. I use chris moxham now. Excellent custom waterslide transfers! Any more info? have not heard of him http://www.cbtransfers.co.uk/contact-us He has made transfers for my 16mm stuff and 5" gauge. Very quick, he will make anything you want and is very reasonable.
