I also have one of these but as an 0-4-0, quite powerful little things although sadly mine does have a tenancy to wobble around a lot although no frame erosion is present. I dont think theres a lot i can do though due to the wheels being fixed on the axles. Also the water gauge on these locos is a ...

./myff/1979582/DSCF3012.jpg I can see now the modification done to the square hole in the cab back sheet on my engine so as to accommodate what I think is a Roundhouse poker burner. Here is a picture showing the longer burner now fitted to this Merlin loco and the rear cab sheet modification that a...

I've been meaning to check myself but do you think the windows are Mamod items? The spectacle rings are smaller diameter than Mamod ones. I was lucky to find one that was very close to the size of the other 3 to replace the one that was missing. At some point someone had hacked away at the rear cab...

Thanks for the images of your loco's Steve. I hope you do not mind me uploading them here so they are easier to view. ./myff/1979581/DSCF3011.jpg ./myff/1979582/DSCF3012.jpg I can see now the modification done to the square hole in the cab back sheet on my engine so as to accommodate what I think is...

These were made from part finished Beck Anna G scale loco or later models left over parts. The 32mm versions have the frames moved in and axles shortened (with variable skill!). There is also a saddle tank version which was the first Merlin Monarch. The 32mm manual versions often (but not always) h...

Early Merlin 0-4-2 'Heritage' Loco SM32
I am not sure if this qualifies as 'heritage' or not but it's fairly old (I think!) and is an example of a Merlin 0-4-2 locomotive. I purchased it during the 16mm NGM annual show, the last one held at Stoneleigh back in 2011. I have recently completed a sympathetic restoration. The loco is fixed at ...

More likely to be a serial no. than a date. It could be the 94th model of that type, or the 94th model he made, or ...... I'd say build number due to number of Beck looking parts used on it. Just a hunch. Thanks Graeme and Paul - I did think it more likely a production number - thanks for your fee...

I originally started this thread to ask about paint colour but now have another question: on stripping down the heavy duty brass frames and buffer beams, I noticed that these parts are hand stamped with '94'. If it's not a daft question is that likely to be the year or something else? Any ideas abo...

Re: 16mm Association/Narrow gauge Rly Soc.
Has anyone else taken up the offer of a reduced price membership of the NGRS? My welcome pack arrived the other day followed by a bundle of mags and publications. I took a few hours out from real life and had a nice cosy evening with a pot of tea and had a good read. I can highly recommend joining ...

A recent acquisition from Superbiker, on this Forum, of Coopercraft moulded letters (some of which he had already used for himself) gave me the opportunity to create a nameboard for one of my stations. Here it is on the platform but not yet attached. ./myff/1959832/IMG_3351.JPG That looks excelle...
