Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Andrew, don't know if you were watching Ffestiniog webcams at 9-40 am (your time). A goods train came into Minffordd headed by a small England, with what looked like (to my untrained eye!) two of your recently modelled grey coal wagons in the consist. Also noticed two of the old bolster wagons that ...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
The Ffestiniog Van 4 is looking superb as usual Andrew, how you hand cut all those windows so accurately is beyond me.
Oh! and of course it has step boards as well.

Ah!! I'm sure we can help you appreciate the benefits of live steam if we twist your arm a bit. There are other means of propulsion there.

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
That's if there was any Jake. I have very strong doubts!
To find the shafts short was one thing, but to discover after I had added 3mm mine were still shorter than Graeme's was a real surprise.
It has finally ended up a runner in the end.

Re: TVT - Dylanesque
I find your gallery web page is a great resource, as there are types of models on there that I'll never see locally and you take a good clear photo. I would second that, I've used Tony's pictures more than once for inspiration (thanks Tony) and I particularly liked the work you did on the weathered...

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Thanks Jake, yes much work has had to be done to this shay firstly by Gordon under warranty. Many pipe leaks and fittings to be remade. Then comparing the drive shaft lengths with Graeme's shay I found out mine were much shorter, strange as I had already silver soldered an additional 3mm to mine bec...

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
A photo posted by Jake (Tropic Blunder) has caused me to let the cat out of the bag. The lumberjack driver has been in the boss's ear for some time, that loads and grades are getting too much for the engine. The engine has done many miles and breakdowns happen more often. He's concerned he may end u...

Some body is keen, I like the masking on the wheels. At first I thought it had white rims!

Re: North East Victoria Railway
Extremely jealous of your second last shot,I admire the mechanicals of the Aster shay very much. I do hope the blowthrough is the cylinders and not the valve faces. Integral valve chest and cylinder castings make that a rather larger job to fix.

Your night shots look good, if La Nina doesn't rear it's head too much this summer hope you are able to do more of it. I'm certainly hoping to be able to put the sawmill out this summer.

Re: No piston action
I notice there is a Phillips head screw in the middle of the flywheel on either side of the engine/cylinder arrangement. I presume this is what locks the flywheel to the crankshaft. Could yours be missing or perhaps what ever method positions it correctly (a square shaft or a flat!) has been sheared...
