Ffestiniog rake taking shape...

Hi all, some may have seen this on the various Facebook Pages, but I thought I would share here for the benefit of those who are not on there. The glorious weather of this Bank Holiday weekend has allowed me to get some more of my stock finished. The Flying Bench (Yatton Model Engineering kit) was b...

Layouts from the National Garden Railway Show 2013

Hi guys, popped up to Peterborough for the show (missed the post on here organising a meet up!), and managed to get some video of the various layouts there... <object width="853" height="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xW3GvODG_gg?hl=en_US&...

Can I just ask, how did you find Lightline to deal with? Geoff at Lightline is a really pleasant chap to deal with. I just said I wanted a Penrhyn livery similar to the one that Linda was carrying when she had the portable fuel tank and no tender a couple of years back. From those simple words he d...

Red/white is a good lining choice for black, as is red/light blue. The concept images there look good. It really is amazing what you can do with some of these locos, both Roundhouse and Accucraft, they are certainly a good base to personalise... Bit of a cheeky one here and most will have seen this,...

Hi there,  we were in the area a couple of weekends ago.  Picked up a room on laterooms.com at a place called The Lodge at Winchelsea.  Was really nice there, only around a 15-20min drive to Tenterden.  Hoping to pop down to the railway myself Easter weekend, only live in North Kent so its doable fr...

I used to work regularly on a 7 1/4" railway. We had a Radio Controlled loco there. Quite amusing to be sitting at the back of the train with people wonder where the driver was...

I don't know if this will help but here goes...   I had a similar problem with my Ragleth, in the end it turned out to be the gas jet/burner where it enters into the boiler.  It had become dislodged and did not have an air tight seal.  This meant that the holes where the air IS supposed to get sucke...

The model is in as ordered Dark Green. Not sure if this is a pigment added in while casting the parts of whether it is a mid-green one painted afterwards. I would venture the latter as I have been putting together one of the tourist car kits in the mid-green and I can see the filler bits in the cast...

Although my loco is a somewhat larger 7 1/4" Hunslet, I find that the firelighters you can buy from supermarkets are a good way to light up too used along with normal charcoal. For running I agree a mix of coal is a good way to go. I have a 7 1/4" Tich as well which does not fire well on p...

I'd like to take Just a Minute (pun intended) to say welcome to the R/C world!   Seriously though sounds like you had a blast.  Interestingly R/C isn't always confined to 16mm,  I have had a go at a 7 1/4 inch R/C controlled battery electric sentinel shunter before. Quite strange sitting at the back...

Well after popping down the Kent Garden Railways to pick up the roundhouse multitool I took the filler valve off and blew gas back through as suggested by Graham at Accucraft.  I didnt think it would do much with it being a non return valve but it did. I have just had her running for 45 mins non sto...

Looks brilliant there, not too far from my homeland of Stoke-on-Trent either.  I'm thinking of getting something 5" myself as the 7 1/4" lines down here in Kent are very sparse (and Maxitrak are just down the road who do some lovely new and secondhand 5" stuff).  Just need a job to pa...

Have you contacted Accucraft? I emailed them and the next morning had a phone call back, I have to say their customer service is top notch. About to go get the roundhouse multitool so I can whip the valve off and try the remedy suggested by them. Does your loco push along while dry and not in steam?

Is it possible that it wont be built until after the draw therefore the winner will get choice of gauge,? I know some of the kits are 32mm only though.

I myself use 32mm gauge, but I agree if its largely limited to 32mm then anyone using 45mm gauge could be quite alienated...
