Hi Guys As promised, ive finally managed to get the basic concept of my twin bogie BoBo live diesel locomotive, using my OS FS four stroke nitro engine. I may be wrong, but from the research that I have done, I am either one of the first, OR THE FIRST PERSON, to make an Electric start, 4 stroke live...

As promised, ive made some more videos, this time at the club, and pulling and shunting wagons and coaches up and down gradients. 32 axles piled with real wood batons seems pretty good to me, please let me know what you guys think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvMIxQdXoiw http://www.youtube.com/wa...

Hi Dave First of all ide like to say well done on what you have achieved, that looks pretty impressive, and i am a HUGE fan of what David Watkins has achieved with his detritus locomotive. I am very interested in this build, as im not sure if you are aware or not, but I am also playing around with l...

some more videos of the latest changed. It now has an AC generator instead of DC and uses gearing instead of a straight 1:1 coupling. Below are some videos of the diesel on a test track in my garden... Please stay tuned as ive got the 4 stroke diesel number 3 coming out the shed soon. Enjoy http://w...

Hi Guys After seeing someone else play around with AC forms of generators instead of DC, I decided to give it a go....and well its worked for me...which is unusual, as usually the first time I try something with models, it fails.... Im now using a clutch, a brushless motor from a plane, and some gea...

Hi Richard Thank you very much, and i find that the camera actually exagerates the noise sometimes. The wires and 'thing' coming out the top is actually the control unit (potentiometer) which controls forward speed. I currently dont have anywhere to put it, as when i turn it, the loco emediately sta...

midwalesstokie: Thank you. You are right in thinking 'Shunt' has no ESC, but instead of a speed controller it has a voltage regulator. You are correct in saying that theoretically you could just have the generator linked directly to the traction motor (letting RPM govern forward speed) but as i have...

Hancockshire: Its really not as hard as it sounds. It just all about how much your willing to experiment, and learn from mistakes. I have the problem that i am very impatient and just want to get things done as quickly as possible.

Let me know if you need any pointers

Invicta280 - yes i was very pleased with the way the gearing turned out and how the engine rpm fluctuations dont seem to effect the locos speed to much....it was a bit of trial and error to be honest and luck played a big part but it seems to work pretty well. I now want to attach as many cars/carri...

Hi David Thanks for posting that info. Not to sure if youve looked at my thread on this forum, under 'Antons Live Diesel' : http://gardenrails.myfreeforum.org/Anton_s_Live_Diesel_Locomotive_about4608.html As i use a similar (although much simply) design. ./myff/1158157/iphone+pictures+102.jpg . ./my...
