Re: Caradoc - Third Question!
Hi As with most Accucraft loco's you can add a servo to the regulator. Just get an arm that will replace the knob and that will give you the top linkage. As for the servo, you "can" put it in the cab, but I found it more eye pleasing to put the servo under the cab floor and just drill out / dremel a...

Re: How do they do it?
PS - The cost per item is more for ten than for one.... Presumably, the income for that comes from the postal costs..... I don't know if it is still the case, but a few years back the Chinese government subsidised the postal costs for these small exporters which is why the post costs always seem so...

Re: DCC Chip Identification
Does anyone happen to know what chip this is? Hard to tell, since the manufacturer couldn't be bothered printing their name and a model no. on the pcb. The soldering is nothing to write home about, so it may be a DIY kit. It's a standard NMRA DCC 9 pin socket and the size looks like a fairly generi...

Re: RAL3004
Not sure it will be of any use to anyone, but I have found that Vallejero do Violet Red which is the same code as RAL3004 but for them the code is VAL70812 (70.812). I managed to pick up 3 bottles of this for less than £10 posted which I can directly airbrush straight out the bottle. Many thanks to ...

Re: A couple of locos ready for testing
The two finished kits look great  What kit is the fairlie, or is it a scratch build? As for the micro layouts, I believe one of the micro layouts was Mark Sayer who is quite a prominent poster on FB and I know him quite well. He prints most of his own locos now, all done on a resin printer....

RAL3004
I am looking to airbrush a loco in RAL3004 paint. I am struggling to find a supplier of paint in airbrush acrylic in small quantities without paying through the nose for it. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks Peter, I think he has done a wonderful job of itPeter Butler wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 4:27 pmI like it a lot Steve, a nicely weathered and tired looking loco, not too heavy on the rust, as might be the case for military equipment.

Hunslet 0-4-4-0 “Carnegie” ex-Woolwich Arsenal
I had some 3D printed parts to the above loco. I added a few parts to get it running as the cranks, wheels etc were not there.I built it and never got around to painting it. A good friend of mine offered to do a weathered paint job on it for me and I took up the offer. I got it back today and I have...

I just love those 90 degree jig brackets that you use for making things square. I will be printing myself a few of these off. Thank you very much for the idea

Re: El cheapo soundcard
No - I put the second speaker in the cab of the other loco. I've tried feeding two inputs into one speaker in the past and it doesn't work - the original volume reduces. Rik I thought it might as I had a similar issue when I tried a similar sort of thing, hence the question about it. Great in a dua...

Re: El cheapo soundcard
I am having good success with the sound card MP3 players and have sorted out the files for this thanks to Rik. They work pretty well and cost less than a fiver if you buy in bulk from china, for me this includes a regulator set to 4.8v, just to be on the safe side. The speaker tends to be the most e...

Re: Storage and Transportation
Just some pictures of the boxes I make for my locos. Sometimes you can incorporate the rolling stock in there too if it's small enough. These show how the box opens. Simply build the box with screws, then unscrew one end panel, and use 2 cut off screws for the bottom location and use a drilled out h...
Re: NGG16
Here it is at last. The track is being redone at the moment so I only have a semi circle to test on, but it ran perfectly.

Re: Storage and Transportation
If you can make a box, why not make one with a perspex side so it can be a display case as well? No real need for foam unless during transport it will get tipped over and knocked about. I recommend this method as it's what I do for all my steamers. My smaller electric models I put in under bed stora...
