Re: NGG16
That's going to be very impressive....where did you get the drawings from? Are they readily available anywhere? I found them online, I just looked for Garrett plans and that was one of the ones I found. Download it, printed it and started work. Whoever draw them has done quite an impressive job it ...
Re: NGG16
That's where 3D printing really shines, rapid prototyping, to (relatively) easily convert a design into a thing, and iterate! Looks like it's coming along well and I'm excited to see how it turns out. Absolutely, it's very easy to take what I have so far, make a couple of small adjustments and chan...
Re: NGG16
it's getting bigger And it WILL be big! Love how it's sitting on what appears to be a book about Quarry Hunslets! I really enjoy the stage of a project where you start putting the bits together and it begins to occupy what was previously empty space, giving a real sense that you're creating somethi...
Re: NGG16
Looking very tidy! :salute: Given the natural tendency to "load up" a Garratt with a long train, would it be worth beefing up that worm/sprocket motor mount? Good spot :) I have already had to change the motor mount configuration as it was indeed a little flimsy for what it needed. As yet I have no...
Re: NGG16
Well a couple more test prints done, one power bogie is roughly in the right place, the other hasn't been printed yet, but it's getting bigger.

Re: NGG16
So I thought I would do a test print of one of the drive bogies, still to print some of it, but everything bolted together quite nicely. It's big, considering it still has a leading and a trailing bogie to add to each end. Anyhow, I waffle, this is it as if earlier today. The other chassis is a Vict...
Re: NGG16
I think the quartering might be slightly out on the lead axle ........ Apart from that, looks like you are making good progress. Rik I am so glad you noticed that, I would have been in such a tizwas otherwise, not sure it would have run too well. :D I think this project is actually bigger tha...
Re: NGG16
Well, a tiny bit more. Started some work on the drive system and bogies, very complicated and it may all change if something doesn't work out right. It is all being done "on the fly" with the plan being used for "reference" for sizes, but the bolt together parts are just a suck it and see how it goe...

Re: Sound cards
Hi Steve I've browsed a few forums and the only suggestion I can make is that it seems some cheaper cloned DF Players behave differently to genuine DF Players. Might be worth investing in a DF Player from a reliable source to see if you get the same problem. Rik Well after lots of faffing around, i...

Re: Not sticking ?
Thanks a million gentlemen. You have all given me a lot to consider. I am literally just trying the first prink having cleaned the bed thoroughly with 'rubbing alcohol' and I have 'dusted' the bed with 3D LAC. The question of the change of filament roll may actually be contributary. I had changed f...

Re: Sound cards
Maybe try adding a letter in front of each file eg asong, bsong, csong and see if that works. Not had a chance to play with mine as yet but the DF Robot website about the DF player clearly says NOTE: The order you copy the mp3 into micro SD card will affect the order mp3 played , which means play(1...

Re: A collection 3d print links
I see a couple of mine have made it onto these as well. Might be time to remove them all from Thingiverse.

Re: Not sticking ?
I seldom clean my glass beds, just give them a scrape every so often with the scraper to remove any scraps of filament. This means I only need to use spray every three or four prints, unless the part has only a small footprint in which case I will give an extra brief squirt where I know the part is...
Re: NGG16
Well a little more done today, it doesn't look much, but I am slow and old, that's my excuse, lol :D If I remember I will post up the stages as they go. This is only so others can follow if they want to :dontknow: P.S. I know the wheels go inside the frame, this is just during the build so I can see...

Re: Sound cards
Well I have created the appropriate files as you suggested, that part is fine. I am however really struggling to get the files to play in the correct order. I have numbers them, copied them to the card in the right order, recreated the files in the right time order, but alas it still plays them in ...

Re: Not sticking ?
I personally use "3D LAC", it's utter brilliant but expensive. Like Rik does, I have heard many many people have great success using cheap hair spray, though I admit to never having tried it myself.

Re: Sound cards
By arranging the tracks on the SD card carefully you can go from: silence Start up to tickover Tickover to accelerate and running Deceleration to tickover Tickover to run down and silence Each track lasts for 20 minutes - so saves having to loop the track Rik Well I have created the appropriate fil...

Re: June 2023 Gallery now open for entries
Well I am gobsmacked by how many amazing photos there are this time, absolutely no clear winner for me.

Re: NGG16
You assume correctly, lucki!y enough I can print up to 300mm high so that fits the boiler in, just. However the footplate will need to be two pieces and bolted / glued together.
