Re: New loco from Mamod
I personally think that's Daylight robbery, I could buy a Entire MSS live steam train set for 500£. Of course I end up paying 1000£ because of Import fees in my country but for most modellers the postage fees aren't too bad. Maybe Mamod has been hanging around 00 gauge manufacturers too much. ...

Re: Some advice on a first Garden railway needed.
Im gonna try Playmobil track and see how it goes, the worse that can happen is the track melt and the train derails, I doubt it will get damage though.

Storing G scale Analogue controllers
I plan on buying the LGB 19904 oval track set to get me going but as I will be using live steam I won't need the controller, but I don't want to get rid of it, how do I store the controller and clamps long term until I start using electric locomotives, I don't want to just shove it somewhere and it ...

Welcome to the Forum.. Go back to Rik's post, and follow the link at the bottom to his Blog.. Lose yourself there, for a few hours.. :) Even the plastic sleepers of SM32 and LGB track, will melt, if hot coals, Ash, or burning spirit, make contact. Playmobil track can be used (and left) out in the g...

Re: Some advice on a first Garden railway needed.
After losing interest in 00 due to extortionate prices I've decided to return my interest in Garden Railways, and I plan on building my first Garden railway, but I have a few questions I want to ask. 1. I am torn between 45mm and 32mm track, I like the Narrow gauge feel of SM32 but I also like LGB ...

Re: Ballasting for moss Growth
I have also heard garden railway modellers proclaiming the virtues of hypertufa, which can be made by mixing cement with peat or other organic materials. I've not tried it myself as I don't need to. You could always try planting ground cover such as Mind Your Own Business (aka Hens and chicks or ba...

Re: Ballasting for moss Growth
I have no difficulty growing moss on my track. In fact I sometimes have too much and it causes derailments. Moss loves damp and shady areas. It doesn't tend to grow on the section of my railway which gets the most sun. My suggestion would be to either build your railway in the shadier parts of your...
