That looks good Trevor. What resin is that?

Re: Raised platform roadbed - Width
Note that many areas will be longer - 8 ft lengths of larger exterior plywood, well protected, for my towns, etc. If I were you I'd rethink the use of ply. It never lasts however well you protect it, even using marine ply I wouldn't bet on more than about 4 or 5 years before it starts to delaminate...

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
We have a moss problem generally, not just on the railway, and I've found this stuff works really well.
https://vivagreengroup.com/product/moss ... i-surface/
It isn't cheap but it is chemical free and safe for kids, pets and fish if it gets in the pond.

Regarding the passengers, this is the other set I have acquired from the same source: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/passengers-explorerpaydi-3 The same digital sculptor also offers seated people in 1940s/1950s attire as well as railroad staff (American style) which some may find useful. I've ...

Re: What is it? An F&B 0-4-2
As promised, the firebox/boiler/smokebox print. So far so good..... :D The batteries are just to check for fit atm. The slot in the top of the firebox is to locate the bottom of the cab front sheet. I thought it easier to do it like this than try to get a curve on the bottom of the front sheet that ...

Re track distorting, I'm not sure what your climate does in terms of temperature variation throughout the year? Here in the UK, rails buckling due to temp is not a problem that I've heard of but we don't often get temps below about 7 or 8 degrees C, or above the low 30's for more than a few days a y...

Rather more robustly engineered than mine, (https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14820) but I did get a feeling of deja vu looking at your pictures! Mine also has a removable saddle to be able to get at batteries, Rx, etc. Please keep us up to speed as you go along, with plenty of pi...

Re: Raised platform roadbed - Width
Hi Fred, I normally reckon on about 6" centre to centre for double track or sidings etc. That allows most stock to pass without disasters! You are looking at single track I think, so allowing 3" either side from the centre should be OK and if you do that, I'd suggest the ballast retaining ...

Re: Palmerston - Small England Loco as built
Before I went off to Croatia for 2 months I had been investigating distortion in resin printed components. One of the thing I found was that changes in material thickness caused problems - and I had found distortion on the surface of some prints where internally the material thickness changed. So t...

Hi I have got as far as installing the plugins, but can't access the animated GIF. Could you check that the address is correct - or advise me on how you accessed it. Trevor Trevor I'm pretty sure that's the correct link, but here it is again: https://forums.sketchup.com/t/fillet-between-two-cylinde...

Re: What is it? An F&B 0-4-2
Yes, resin Graeme. I've actually also printed the complete 'smokebox/lower half of boiler/firebox with dome', all as one piece. It only finished printing a couple of hours before we came away for a week so I didn't have time to do more than UV cure it, but at a quick look it seemed OK. Proper piccy ...

Re: Rattle cans
Unfortunately I can't send a picture of one of them (the tanker not my green hair). When I click onto the the picture icon I get a strange 'img' word which I don't understand. The photo is ready but I cannot transfer it - unfortunately beyond my limited computer abilities. Hi William, Not sure what...

Hi and welcome to the forum. You've made a lovely job of those coaches, thanks for sharing. How about a bit of an intro and description of your line, if its up to the same standard as these, it will be well worth seeing. :D Thanks for the Cults link as well, at last a paid for link that actually loo...

Re: Wagon Works (Distraction no. 2)
Windows computers have the ClipChamp app which is free to use or you can find legacy downloads for the freebie MovieMaker . Rik I always use MovieMaker. It's been obsolete for years but is simple and does all I want. I did have a very quick play with Clipchamp but didn't care for it immediately and...

Re: Rattle cans
The clogs I've had with both PlastiKote and Polar have been inside the can, presumably at the bottom of that red tube. One had clogged up before I'd even used it for the first time, but I'd had it for just a few days longer than the Amazon return window! Grrr!

Re: Rattle cans
Phil, I've got a couple of cans of WRX and it seems to be OK, a bit smelly though.
Have you used any of their clear varnishes. I'm fed up with buying cans of other brands and only get one use before they clog up leaving 3/4 of it trapped in the can!

Re: What is it? An F&B 0-4-2
Making progress! The whole chassis is too long to fit in my printer, so I've split it at the front of the firebox which not only solves that problem but it will give me a self contained 0-4-0 working chassis, plus the cheating pony truck for the unpowered rear (fixed) axle. Should make setting thing...
