Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Rampant campanula was my problem this year. Rampant moss is mine... I'm thinking of starting an export business - using rail transport of course, if I can clear enough of it to allow the trains to run! Oooh, I'm imagining something like the Irish peat lines, maybe with those rustic looking wooden c...

Re: June 2024 Garden Railway Gallery - ENTER HERE
Just a reminder to enter, for those who haven't already.
I've just realised that I didn't put a closing date for entries at the beginning of the thread.
My apologies for that, but the closing date for entries will be 13th June.

Grant, yep, that what it says. He was 90 and his wife had predeceased him. He was on his own and he hadn't kept on top of things. Sad really, but likely to come to many of us one day.

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports
Sorry Guys. The Inspectors previous host seems to have gone off the radar. Back in Feb he promised to post the Inspector on "in the next couple of weeks" and he hasn't been seen on here since then. I know he has personal problems but if he doesn't respond there isn't much I can do, unfortu...

I'm no expert but it looks rather like a Kerr Stuart Wren class? Is there still one at Statfold?

Re: It's a Sign!
There's a really cool trick where you "snap" a guide line onto your surface, which involves covering string in chalk, holding it really taut just above where you need it, then kind of pinging it against it to leave a line - I've not tried it, but apparently there's quite a knack to it... ...

Re: Blog, Pictures, and Videos
Turn the Smartie-Phone sideways (I assume) for better aspect ratio.. Depending which variety of smartiephone you have, there is an iphone app which automatically takes landscape video's & pictures, no matter which way up you hold the phone, or even at an angle. :D It is called "Horizon&quo...

Re: Quarry Hunslet
A bit of both Rik. I usually tell Chitubox to put them in automatically and then look at them and take out the ones that are nonsense and add a few more to be sure! I also check and edit if necessary to make sure that the support bases are clear of the model and that the verticals are clear of faces...

Re: Quarry Hunslet
As a slight aside, I've been thinking about colour schemes for when I get that far. I know the preserved locos sport a variety of liveries so I wondered how fancy they were when when new. I kind of assumed that they might have been fairly ( completely?) plain darkish colours, but I've just come acro...

Re: Quarry Hunslet
Drew, I very rarely try printing more than one thing at a time in FDM. It's no quicker than doing them individually and as you say, more chances for things to go wrong. The only real exception, for me, is a set of wheels. Printed flat on the bed the m/c can't really get it wrong, just going round in...

Interesting to read about your use of foamboard outside. I've never played with SBR though I know a man that uses it. I assume Postcrete is just a sand/cement mix, is it spread dry onto the wet SBR? Phil, Sorry, I forgot to reply. Yes, "Postcrete" is a proprietery readymix sand & ceme...

Re: Quarry Hunslet
Things have been trundling along and I'm making some changes and reprinting the chassis/footplate. Not that there is anything wrong with Steve's original drawings but different people do the same things in different ways. I'll come back to that when I know if my way works. In the meanti...
