Thanks to those who kindly offered suggestions, so far. I've not yet found what I seek, which is mildly frustrating - they must exist ... I like the idea of using a 'brake handle' as one member here thoughtfully suggested; although, I wonder if I would need some form of milling machine (and the ski...

Looks superb, those in cab shots especially. I own a steam version of the same & thought the detail was good on that, but the electric ones...well wow! Nice conversion, have not seen that RC setup before, looks rather neat. Just seen the railwaymans essential tool kit in one of the pics, cup of...

Can anyone else with a Countess/Earl upload a photo similar to my first or second one showing position of collar round air intake holes please. Look don't waste your time with spurious ...

It could well be a partially blocked jet as you suggest Mike, so it's worth checking ! As for filling then wasting 5 seconds worth of gas (in these frugal times ;) ), the added advantage of the "quick squirt" method is that you've brought your boiler just about up to temperature ready for...

on further testing the loco will still only light with a flame coming out the front of the engine,  the burner appears to be right at the top in the flue, but not sure if this would affect things? or how to move it. Please check out the thread on Ragleth similar prolems. Please check and clear if n...

Re: Ragleth Problem

Right, Thought my ragleth has a blocked gas jet (may still have) so i tried unblocking it in the usual way. tried lighting it once back together however still nothing apart from a silent dull blue flame which sort of sits in the smokebox  :| any ideas? its a lovely loco so im quite annoyed about th...

Whistling Lyn

I've just completed a job for a Customer which may be of interest. BTW I'm not selling or advertising, (Had enough problems here the last time.) Supplied a new Accucraft Lyn, fitted full RC and a RC operated steam whistle. Its a bit cramped in there. ./myff/1092772/IMG_0183.jpg ./myff/1092773/IMG_01...

I do love the look of these loco's, but the scare stories about them...well as Tony said. Merlin's build quality was erm, variable, particularly towards the end, but there are enhanced parts out there and a sorted one is a complete joy, regards Rob The only parts I know as being available are repla...

Merlin rides again

Hello All Delivered my latest rebuild to a customer today. i returned his aged Merlin Mayflower, which was received by me as a forlorn looking box of bits and returned, dare one say, better than new. Taken some time but we finally got there. Thanks to Simon Whenmouth who helped out with new cylinder...

Re: 3 1/2 gauge Tich help

Hi i was just wandering about the boiler on the Tich about whether it needs to be brazed as said in LBSC book of how to build it or if silver solder would be sufficient as its used in 16mm coal fired boilers ?? I think that you are perhaps being confused by the terminology. What you call silver sol...

Ooh, very nice! Did that begin life as a Roundhouse "Stanley"? Well some of it did. Built from parts from my bits box. The body was from a Roundhouse Stanly, but modified to incorporate glazing and vertical glazing bars. The skirt was removed to expose the motion. The original Stanley powe...
