Re: Latest developments

It is a magnificent loco, but those lines would keep me awake all night! Without the rivet detail there should be a way of smoothing the surface. When these are painted up most of the line seem to disappear, however Peter I do agree with you, and it is what has put me off a 3D printer, I am not sur...

Re: Battery charging issues

Nothing to loose if the trick does not work. Max You think not, and if they explode, because something goes wrong, you will pay the compensation. I'm not quite sure what you are saying Jimmy. The advice came from here - https://www.brianjonesmodels.co.uk/ I can't see a maximum of 1 amp/12v for 30 s...

Re: Battery charging issues

Thank you Jimmy, your reply is perhaps not what I hoped for but you have far more knowledge on the subject so I will take your advice. I would like to buy individual cells in future but the plastic holders are larger than packs so they will not fit into spaces designed for the original packs inside...

Re: Battery charging issues

Batteries if allowed to run flat (fully discharged), and especially stay flat for any length of time will never fully recover, some will never recover. It has been said that applying a "shock" charge to then may work, but personally I would not do it, unless you fully understand the risk. ...

Re: Micron RC - Deltang Rx replacement MR603a

I have contacted Andy (Micron) and he has given me this information:

There have been reports of transmitters with pre v207 firmware failing to bind. These would be at least 6 years old. The solution is to have the firmware reloaded which I can arrange.

Phil a silver "hologram" sticker with "Warranty" on it, that is what is in mine. Having looked at my Micron Tx, I have not noticed any identification :(

Re: Figures or not?

Werrp! Werrp! Werrp! Heresy Alert! Oooh… I set out to achieve, with varying levels of success, a sort of simplified, artificially ‘clean’ presentation with my not-really-to-scale, locos and rolling stock (track too, kind of) and I’d want any figures within to sit comfortably with that. I’d be looki...

Re: Figures or not?

Do you think adding miniature figures enhances or detracts from the realism of a garden railway? Rik I have a few (very few) figures on my Railway, as part of a small cameo, and I do have figures is some carriages, I think a lot depends on your Railway, a garden with a Railway running through it, o...

Re: Which RC (and variable reverser question)?

You guys make a good point. Most of my running is done at a club layout with 6 independent loops, which allows for multiple reasons to be running without fear of interference. For those of you that find it handy to have an extra transmitter for when friends come to visit/play, doesn't the receiver ...

Re: Which RC (and variable reverser question)?

Like Phil and Jim, I tend to run my locos sequentially rather than simultaneously as I have only one circuit. This means that both locos are usually stationary when I switch between them. At least once during an operating session, I will run two trains at once - for example, send the ore train to r...

Re: Which RC (and variable reverser question)?

Since this thread has veered far enough off topic to include general questions pertaining to Deltang-based R/C methods, I'll ask this here (with further apologies to the original poster...) What are the groups thoughts on the selecta option, and having multiple locos paired to the same controller? ...

Rik, that is why I am cautious about updating firmware on any device, especially my PC, unless you can gain access to read the file you have an expensive paper weight.

Hi Trevor, Yes I know you print all of your buildings, and make an excellent job of them, that was the point of my rather feeble joke... I was actually asking if you had printed the slates on your house at the RHS of the picture. ;) I can't find an emoji for 'groan' .........  Rik 😫 😖 🚂

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd

The solvent I have been using is Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane) from EMA Model Supplies (Plastic Weld) bought in my local model shop. This works very well. I'm not sure whether the transparent sheet is acrylic or another plastic. It will also stick this transparent material to plastikard. Thi...

Re: Which RC (and variable reverser question)?

Having read the thread which is asking the question WHICH RC, it has come around to control methods. Just for my input, I have a RH Fowler supplied with RC and has 2 servos 1 for regulator and 1 for the reverser both of which are sprung in a "aircraft type" Tx. From conversations I underst...
