Re: Blog, Pictures, and Videos

A video? Video is fine..test is fine.... loco seems a bit poorly!   Thanks.. I had the devil of a job finding a video.. It is a 'leaf-blower' for track clearing duties. Hence the reference to needing a loco behind it.. An old SLA battery, a cast-off tender, and a 'bilge-blower' fa...

Thanks Rik..

I might be dragging myself (kicking and screaming) into, at least, the 20th century.

Re: A Ruston-ish ....

Good chunky metal gears, as well..

The only downside of a bevel-gear final-drive, is it is usually 1:1, so you need to be sure you motor /gearbox gives you the ratio you need.

How noisy, is this arrangement, Rik?

Re: Chassis thickness.

This wouldn't be one of the two sets of laser cut parts, listed on a certain auction site, would it?

Near Nottingham, so was sorely tempted..

Re: Chassis thickness.

It might be a problem, for 'stiffness' of the chassis, but I would have thought you could add a couple of lengths of angle section, if this proved a problem. Only other thought, is if it has been cut 'wrong', any tab and slot construction, will need more fill, when welding. Overall dimensions, will ...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

I have acquired a small quantity of these..

Intention is to supply a 'kit' of receiver + soundcard, ready to go (as best I can).

One of a couple of 'kits to do stuff' I am hoping to make available...

But don't hold your breath!

Impressive!
I would love to have a go.. If only to be able to say I had done it.

Time, is my enemy, mainly..

Keep posting, I find people's progress inspiring.. Even if I am not progressing myself.

Re: British businesses who won't sell to Canada

I think this is due to insurance restrictions? I have been refused insurance for RC Trains, because I answered 'yes' to do I sell to either the USA or Canada.. Unlimited liability, means the smaller companies can't / won't be able to get insurance.. I have a broker trying to get me an annual deal, r...

Thank you Gentlemen!

Much to think about..

I am a bit of a luddite, but it looks like YouTube is a 'yes', and I need to have a look at the others..

Just need to find the time to make a start, and organise some content..

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

Lovely job, Peter..

I am 'supposed' to have built something for the National Show, on Saturday..
Spent a little on paint and glue, this weekend..

I am now at the usual 'fear of starting / failing' part..

I need a week of 36 hour days, this week.
