Re: The Cockatoo Creek Tramway

A great set of photos Mitch. Your railway is maturing nicely. I can't recall seeing the trestle before, but my little grey cells might be deceiving me.

Happy 21st BTW

Re: Why do we do it?

Interesting. I've not come across the notion of bad etiquette regarding reviving old threads. On another forum I sometimes frequent, when I create a new thread it shows me a list of old threads with similar titles to avoid duplication. My thinking is that threads don't really have a shelf-life. Some...

Emett's locomotives were always different despite the same name, frequently 'Nellie', appearing on many of them. Certain features were repeated, such as the domed saddle tank and tall chimneys, but no two cartoons had identical locomotives.
Well, it certainly looks the part

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

Was this loco inspired by Emett, rather than a direct copy of one of his designs?

Presumably, as it's atomised water make real steam, it will be even more effective in the garden on a chilly windless day?

Really great watching it take shape. I was going to say 'slowly take shape' but 'slowly' isn't applicable when Peter has the bit between his teeth.

Welcome to the forum DenisM I can't answer your questions about plastic trackbeds, but I know some on here have used Filcris. My experience of plywood is limited but not very positive. No matter which product I chose, it had a tendency to delaminate. Again, there are others whose experiences might b...

That's very kind of you all. My motivation for the blog was that I wanted to bring together the sorts of information I looked for when I was planning my railway. Rather than saying "I'm an expert, here's what you must do", I wanted people to theoretically peer over my should to see what I'd done and...
