Re: It's a Sign!
Hi Andrew, When my Dad used to get his wagons sign written the guy used to chalk out the sign first and then use that bit of stick that has a piece of cloth wrapped around it. He had many different sizes of those because some letters were really small, like the bottom of the doors on my Dads cabs w...

Re: Chassis thickness.
I agree with Aaron, bracing is a must now and the width like Phil.P says the overall dimensions will hurt you when building it. You could put thicker right angle corner pieces to make the dimensions better and stronger. No harm in looking at that mocked up and seeing if it helps, I think it would an...

Practice, practice and more practice Drew, like anything else the more one does something the better and easier it gets, or should be. I fail miserably most of the time with somethings I do

Re: Nolwyn Valley Tramway
Well done Drew. My little help thread has succeeded in doing what I wanted it to, to get more members to make videos and show off their lines. Yours is a little bit short your right
But hey, who cares, you have done it and I like the speed of the loco. Nice clear shot.

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Great video Rik, the hitchhiker landed perfectly didn't it. Although I would have ran away myself
Great to have some sunshine at last too hey, hopefully we can all start to send more videos in now and get to enjoy running our stock again.

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd
Can I make a suggestion Phil. Why don't you try with some 3 or 5 ply full length, you then can put wood screws countersunk every few inches or so and then fill in the small gaps with wood filler or something that will be ok to use outside. For the ramps at the end I would score the underneath about ...

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd
Those coaches are very very nice Phil. Yep a live steamer pulling them would look great, but what you have looks the part I think, but what do I know, others with far more experience in these things might suggest something else, who knows. :dontknow: But remember Rule 1 Phil, (it's your line and if ...

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Those wood piles would make for some great wood smoking on a barbecue or a wood burner in the house, even wood chipping like you say your could be getting a chipper in, would help in combating the weeds or (sorry Grant I can't think of the word I need)... angry9:.. Anyway they would come in useful f...

Shame about SVLR Andrew. I know how it must feel note being able to get the line up and running because of some problem or other. PDF CLOSING
Read this morning from Leanne Farley, that she is having to close the business, which is a real shame. They produced some fabulous models and they are going to be sorely missed. I for one have had loads of help from Peter and those that took over when he passed. There maybe someone who is willing to...

Re: Quarry Hunslet
Just wish I had a bigger bed now for printing things that length, but it's not going to happen for years yet. Yes, well I'm fortunate Rod. I couldn't have afforded the big machines myself either, but technically they both belong to SWMBO's company and were bought to do a job for a particular contra...

Re: Nolwyn Valley Tramway
Brilliant Drew. It's worth all the effort when you see a scene like this. Wont be that long before you have the line complete, but then comes the rest of it, buildings, rolling stock, people....etc etc.
Looking forward to more photos and updates.

Re: Haruka garden railway
Thats just brilliant. The lighting is superb and a model to show off quite rightly.. :salute: The idea for talking history with your line is also brilliant. Unfortunately history isn't taught that much now in the schools and what there is it's mainly about the Romans from what my second youngest gra...
